Lindemans, Kriek

In 1859, old farmer Lindemans started a little brewery on his farm with the aim of making some beer for himself, his neighbours and friends. Soon, due to the success of his beer, the brewery increased in size. Today, the farm is totally occupied by the brewing installation, fermentation rooms, stock, and the bottle store. Recently a new brewery was built next to the old one. This was necessary in order to meet the growing needs of the market without any loss of quality.

Kriek, the first of the fruit beers was obtained by adding fresh black cherries to young Lambic. After 4 to 5 months of fermentation, only peel and stones are left and the kriek is ready to be filtered and bottled.

Over several months of fermentation the characteristic bouquet of the kriek comes to the fore.

The procedure for Cassis, Framboise and Pecheresse is comparable to Kriek. The result is a fresh fruity drink with a background of the rich bouquet of Lambic. These beers are mostly drunk as appetizers. They are noted for their strong, fruity bouquet and fresh taste of raspberry, peach or blackcurrant.
