Sharp's has launched a new beer in partnership with Rick Stein. The beer is named "Chalky's Bite" in tribute to Rick's faithful canine friend.
Chalky's Bite is a very special beer with a brewing and maturation process of over four months. The beer is triple fermented using both the Sharp's yeast strain and a special Belgian strain and is uniquely flavoured with wild Cornish fennel.
Chalky’s Bite: has an appealing fruity and estery aroma with some citrus and pine notes from late hops. This is allied with a good toasty champagne-like nose from bottle conditioning. Fruity in the mouth with some hop bitterness and delicate fennel sweetness. Mouth feel initially sumptuous with a creamy mousse formed on tongue from lively carbonation and wheat body. This gives way to a succulent yet light sweetness balanced by the tartness contributed by the wheat. Finish is long but delicate and stimulates the appetite and the thirst. Fennel notes come through towards the end. Does not taste or feel like an ale just shy of 7%. The perfect aperitif, excellent with seafood and great for relaxation.
