This beer takes its name from the legendary Merlin,
the wizard whose pagan master lost the battle of Adderyd near Carlisle in 573 AD.
A thorn bush at Drumelzier close to Broughton marks his burial place and many strong legends and historical references give credence to his presence.
Whatever the truth of these stories the magic of Merlin lives on in Merlin`s Ale. A light golden hoppy beer with a malty character, a clean dry hop-bitter aftertaste
and a delicate floral hop aroma.
